Figures from public filings as of Oct 10, 2026. Investment decisions and their results are your own responsibility.
Short answer: Samsung Electronics said on October 8, 2026 that its consolidated operating profit for July–September was about 107.4 trillion Korean won, on sales of about 195 trillion won. At the Seoul closing rate the day before the release (1,340.4 won per dollar), that is roughly $80.1 billion of operating profit on $145.5 billion of sales — in a single quarter.
Those are the only two headline numbers in the release. Everything else below is either taken from the same document or calculated from it, with the formula shown.
What Samsung actually published
Samsung releases a quarterly estimate before its full results. The release gives a range for each figure, but Korean disclosure rules do not allow the estimate to be disclosed as a range, so Samsung reports the median of that range as its headline number.
| Third quarter 2026 (estimate) | Range in the release | Headline (median) | In US dollars* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Consolidated sales | 194 – 196 trillion won | about 195 trillion won | about $145.5 billion |
| Consolidated operating profit | 107.3 – 107.5 trillion won | about 107.40 trillion won | about $80.1 billion |
*Converted at 1,340.4 won per dollar, the 3:30 p.m. KST closing rate in Seoul on October 7, 2026 (Bank of Korea). The dollar figures are our conversion, not Samsung’s.
The figures are consolidated and prepared under K-IFRS, Korea’s version of international accounting standards.
The comparison table, and what it shows
The release also prints two earlier quarters for comparison. We added the change and the operating margin (operating profit divided by sales).
| Q3 2025 | Q2 2026 | Q3 2026 (estimate) | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sales (trillion won) | 86.06 | 171.5 | ~195 |
| Operating profit (trillion won) | 12.17 | 89.49 | ~107.40 |
| Operating margin | 14.1% | 52.2% | ~55.1% |
Three things stand out from this table alone:
- Year on year, sales are about 2.27 times the level of a year earlier (195 ÷ 86.06), and operating profit is about 8.8 times the year-earlier level (107.40 ÷ 12.17).
- Quarter on quarter, sales rose about 13.7% and operating profit about 20.0% from the second quarter.
- Operating profit was more than half of sales (about 55.1%), against 14.1% a year earlier. The release does not break the number down, so the table cannot tell you how each business contributed.
What this release doesn’t tell you
- Which businesses made the money. There is no split by semiconductors, mobile, displays or appliances in the guidance. In past quarters Samsung has published divisional results with its full quarterly results later in the month; until then, any split is an estimate by someone outside the company.
- Net profit. The guidance gives sales and operating profit only.
- Whether it lasts. One quarter’s margin says nothing about the next.
- The final number. These are estimates, and the confirmed figures can differ.
